One of Muammar Gaddafi’s Ukrainian nurses is seeking political asylum in Norway, according to Norwegian news portal VG, citing several independent sources.
Halyna Kolotnytska, 38, made headlines thanks to WikiLeaks as one of the closest people who travelled everywhere with the Libyan leader. In February Kolotnytska returned to Ukraine, but avoided speaking to the press despite the heightened interest in her.
A Kyiv Post phone call to Kolotnytska’s landline home number in Brovary went unanswered as did a cell phone call to her daughter Tatyana.
Her colleague, Oksana Balynska, who also returned from war-torn Libya, revealed several details about the nation’s controversial leader. She in particular told British newspaper Guardian that Gaddafi is in good health, prefers Italian cuisine as well as couscous with camel meat, and enjoys giving his assistants gold watches as gifts.
Another Norwegian news outlet, Dagbladet, reported that there are nine Ukrainians seeking asylum in the country.
