Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said that the Ukrainian gas network operator Ukrtransgaz has completed ahead of the schedule the repairs of the pipeline damaged by militants in Donetsk region, and the supply of gas to Mariupol and Berdiansk has resumed.

“Thanks to the incredible efforts of the Ukrainian gas industry workers, both breaches were patched up in record time. The repaired pipelines have been connected to the network, and they are being filled with gas,” the premier wrote on his Facebook page on June 14 evening.

According to Yatsenyuk, at 06.30 on June 12, rebels were shelling positions of the Ukrainian military and blasted two gas pipelines, leaving hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians without gas. In addition, the work of the industry including the largest Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises Mariupol Illich Steel Works was put under threat.

The prime minister thanked Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Andriy Kobolev, Ukrtransagaz’s employees and military servicemen from sector B, who helped to clean up after the accident.
