MOSCOW - Gazprom forecasts the tariff Ukraine charges for gas transit to rise 50%-60% in 2010.
Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kuprianov told journalists that “the tariff on gas transportation through Ukraine is calculated using a formula contained in the contract. The tariff varies depending on the price of oil,” he said.
“Gazprom currently forecasts the tariff next year at $2.56-$2.7 per 1,000 cubic meters per 100 kilometers. The actual amount of the tariff will be determined by actual prices for fuel oil, gas oil and natural gas in the reference period,” he said.
The tariff this year is $1.7 per 1,000 cubic meters. Beginning in 2010 the European formula for calculating transportation tariffs will be applied.
Earlier on Thursday Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said the amount Ukraine charges for transit of Russian gas might increase by 65%-70%.
That would raise the tariff to $2.8-$2.9 per 1,000 cubic meters per 100 kilometers.
