The Greek cargo vessel Captain Michalis has sunk in the Aegean Sea after colliding with the Santana, a dry cargo carrier, according to a report by the number of mass media posted on Monday.
A seventy-year old Greek sailor died as a result of the collision.
Greece’s Maltese-flagged Captain Michalis ship, with nine
crewmembers, sank after colliding with the Santana near the Central
Aegean island of Amorgos.
The eight other sailors from the sunken ship were rescued, and the dead sailor’s body was recovered during a rescue operation.
The Santana, with 20 Ukrainians onboard, was en route from Ukraine
to Thailand. The ship is now heading for the Greek island of Syros for
an investigation into the incident.
