Korrespondent.net: A group of around 30 young men in sports clothes attempted to take over Kozatsky hotel on Mykhailivska Street , overlooking Maidan Nezalezhnosti, at 11 a .m., the hotel’s management reported.
“This was a raider attack. A criminal case has been started,” said Natalya Nikiforova, the hotel’s marketing manager. She added that she had no information as to who was behind the attempted takeover.
Dmitry Stryzov, head of the company providing security for the hotel, told more details to the Interfax news agency: “At 11 o’clock about 15-20 people in sports suits, shaved, grouped in the foyer without explaining the purpose of their visit. Then they attempted to break through to the lift. As a result of it the lift was broken, a window was broken, telephone lines cut to make sure we could not call the police.”
He said his guards forced the men out into the street, and they disappeared in the crowd. Two hotel guards received minor facial injuries.
The hotel is currently owned by Ukraine ’s Defense Ministry.
