Ukraine would be able to defend itself if it were to come under external armed attack, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defense, former Defense Minister, Anatoliy Hrytsenko has said.

“It is impossible to judge the ability of any country to repulse an
attack only according to the quantity of brigades, corps and divisions
[in its army]. There is the possibility to act asymmetrically, first of
all with the help of special forces,” Hrytsenko’s press service said.

In addition, Hrytsenko commented on a number of reports in the mass
media concerning the possibility of an armed conflict between Ukraine
and Russia.

“I want to calm these hotheads and propose to count how many atomic
stations, dams, chemical and other enterprises are on the territory of
Ukraine and the European part of the Russian Federation. War between
Ukraine and Russia would be a catastrophe for the whole of Europe, and
that’s why all politicians are tasked with not to allowing such a thing
to happen,” the politician said.
