The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has accepted the arguments of the Ukrainian government regarding realistic revenues of the draft state budget for 2010, Ukraine's Acting Finance Minister Ihor Umansky has said.
“We brought arguments that, I think, convinced the representatives
[of the IMF] that our calculations are realistic,” he said on Ukrainian
television’s 5th channel on Monday.
According to him, there was some disagreement between the government
and the IMF concerning the forecasts for revenues from import duty and
value added tax.
Umansky also said that a budget deficit of 4% of GDP in 2010 had
been agreed with the IMF. In comparison, he said that the deficit of
the state budget of Russia for 2010 is 7.5% of GDP.
As reported, on September 14 the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the
draft state budget for 2010, which foresees revenues of UAH 285 billion
and expenditure of UAH 324 billion. The deficit is estimated at UAH
46.7 billion, or 3.97% of GDP.
