Judge Rodion Kireyev, who is presiding in the trial of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, has rejected a petition lodged by her lawyers to play the videos of investigative actions, in particular, her face-to-face meeting with Naftogaz CEO Oleh Dubyna.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the petition to study all video and audio recordings in writing had come from Tymoshenko’s lawyer Oleksandr Plakhotniuk.

"I believe that all of the case materials, video and audio recordings should be studied," Tymoshenko said, while speaking after the announcement of the petition.

She said that it was necessary to play the video of the face-to-face meeting with Dubyna, as it contains important information.

However, Kireyev rejected the petition.

The defense lawyers present at a court session on Thursday, Yuriy Sukhov and Mykola Siry, protested against such actions by the presiding judge.

Sukhov said that by refusing to study these materials, the court had violated the rights of the defendant and her defense team.

Tymoshenko, in turn, said she bewildered that the evidence of the prosecution was shown at a court session on Wednesday – a video recording of a Shuster Live TV program – while other videos from the defense team had been disallowed.
