LOS ANGELES (AP) — Heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is donating at least 100 tickets to his WBC title bout against Chris Arreola to firefighters battling the wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
Klitschko says he can see
the fires from his hillside home, where he lives with his wife and
children. Though his family’s home isn’t in danger from the fires in
the San Gabriel Mountains, the Ukrainian champion has been touched by the firefighters’ efforts during the lengthy efforts to contain the blazes.
Klitschko
announced the donations Wednesday for his fight at Staples Center on
Sept. 26 against the unbeaten Arreola. The fight is Klitschko’s third
major bout in Los Angeles, where he makes one of his three homes.
