MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin is not planning to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko for the time being, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“The president has said already that, to promote the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, if it’s necessary for their implementation, he will be ready for such a contact as well. But, again, the necessary preconditions should mature for this to happen, and homework needs to be done for this,” Peskov told journalists on Sept. 7.

The Kremlin spokesman referred to Putin’s words that such a meeting “makes sense after this work has been done and after it becomes clear what result such a meeting may help achieve.”

“I am unaware of such contacts [between Putin and Poroshenko] being planned,” Peskov said.
