The Health Ministry of Ukraine hopes that the electronic healthcare management system will be introduced within one year, Health Minister Alexander Kvitashvili has said.

“All countries that passed through reform, have introduced the electronic management system. We should introduce the electronic system, collect all information and then calculate to do the same in Ukraine. I think it will take at least a year to do this. A single register of patients, doctor electronic databases will be created, the passporting [sic] of all clinics and emergency care hospitals will be conducted. This is obligatory, as it is impossible to reform without this and introduce insurance medicine,” he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

Kvitashvili said that active work on the creation of the electronic healthcare management system will start in late June.

“We have a strong team to do this. There is nothing unique in the work they are to do, and we’ll try to do everything quickly,” he said.

The minister said that the cost of medical services will be calculated when the work is finished.
