KYIV. Jan 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, Ukraine's National Guard Commander Yuriy Allerov, and Turkish Gendarmerie Commander Galip Mendi have discussed prospects of the joint trainings along with the importance of the experience exchange in the fight against terrorism.

“The interlocutors have discussed the possibility to hold joint trainings with the participation of the military divisions of the special task forces of Turkish Gendarmerie and Ukraine’s National Guard,” the press service of the NSDC said on the results of the meeting.

In the course of the negotiations the parties have noted that the security situation in Ukraine and Turkey has many common characteristics and problems. Therefore, Turchynov and Mendi believed the exchange of the experience was crucial in countering terrorism, sabotage and subversion, as well as attempts by radical and terrorist organizations to destabilize the situation.

The NSDC secretary said that the effective work of the security agencies depended on both the exchange of information and the development and the implementation of the joint measures to counter hybrid threats to national security, to fight international terrorism and sabotage.

As a part of the visit, Turchynov had also visited anti-terror centers of the National Police and Turkish Gendarmerie.
