Kyiv municipal council has allowed the Kyiv Subway (Kyivskyi Metropoliten) municipal enterprise to purchase one hundred subway cars on conditions of financial lease with option to buy.
Kyiv council made this decision at its session meeting.
Thus, the council permitted the enterprise to procure the cars on such a scheme with the right of redemption on the condition of payment from the city budget 2009 of up to 15% from the total cost of the cars and subsequent payments from the city budget in 2010-2014.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kyiv Subway previously asked Kyiv council to permit purchase of e hundred subway cars on conditions of financial lease.
The company estimates overall cost of one hundred subway cars at UAH 800 million, the initial payment sum (15%) UAH 113.5 million.
Kyiv Subway in November 2008 invited a tender for purchase of subway cars on financial lease conditions with the delivery term of 2008-2013 but then postponed it to January-February.
