Kyiv municipal state administration extended the limit of transport and pedestrians along Khreschatyk Street until May to carry out geological exploration for reconstruction of the European Square, reads the administration's directive, a copy of which has become available for Ukrainian News.

The directive amends its directive dated October 10, 2007 that restricted traffic on Khreschatyk from September 7 to December 17, 2008.

So, the administration extended the restriction of traffic.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukrbudrozviduvannia conducts the geological exploration at the order of Kyivavtodor municipal corporation.

Khreschatyk is closed from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Kyiv municipal administration permitted closing the street for cars in both directions and four-meter wide and 14-meter long strips of sidewalks on both sides.

They planned to carry out geological exploration of Khreschatyk in 2007 but the terms were twice moved.

Hraal began reconstruction of European Square in December 2003.

Kyiv municipal administration declared Hraal the investor in the European Square reconstruction project in May 2003.
