On June 5-7, Kyiv’s open-air Green Theatre on the hills of the Dnipro became the playground of the third annual Fire Fest, featuring spectacular fiery shows. [1,3]. The best Ukrainian, Russian and Belarussian fire schools came to impress with their pyro-skills and to conduct master classes in the fiery arts. Headliners of the festival – Sebastian Berger (Austria), the wizard of the doubles, performed his memorable “Oj” fire solo; fire fest diva, Linda Farkas (Hungary) brought her famous Raysailors shadow play and BurnCrewConcept (France) conducted a sophisticated fire-breathing master class.
The artists rehearsed their shows in the Green Theatre and posed for the cameras [2].
To heat up the public in daytime, participants organized fire battles and flag shows. After dusk, a true fiery spectacle began with the telling of fairytales with the help of fire, and presentations of daring and dangerous acts that made the audience of 4,000 people burst in to frequent applause.
According to newspapers and blogs, many in the audience seemed to think that Kyiv artist were better organizers than performers. These reviewers thought that the local acts were not as hot as those of the guest stars and that the theatrical parts of their performances were difficult to follow.
Whatever the case, the best shows were saved for the night. Rain showers started right after the last performances ended, dousing the heated moods.
