Kyiv will host a meeting of the Ukraine-European Union parliamentary cooperation committee on October 26-27.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The agenda of the committee’s meeting was in the focus of a meeting between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko and the chairman of the European Parliament’s delegation for cooperation with Ukraine, Pawel Robert Kowal, in Brussels. According to the statement, meeting between Poroshenko and Kowal was held within the bounds of President Viktor Yushchenko’s visit to Belgium.

The sides also discussed the prospects for the consolidation of the inter-parliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, the ways of realization of the initiative of the European Parliament concerning the creation of a parliamentary assembly “European Union – Eastern European Partners.”

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the European Parliament’s delegation for cooperation with Ukraine has elected its chairman Pawel Robert Kowal, who represents Poland and European Conservatives and Reformists in the European Parliament.
