The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the death of two Ukrainian nationals in the crash of an Antonov 12 plane in the Congo.
“According to early information from the Ukrainian embassy in Gabon received from the embassy of the Congo in Gabon, there were two Ukrainian citizens among the killed crewmembers of the An-12 – the captain and the flight engineer,” Foreign Ministry press secretary Vasyl Kyrylych told Interfax on Wednesday.
He said the details of the crash are being clarified.
Some media reports say two of the crash victims were Moldovan citizens.
Earlier reports quoting Congolese Transport Minister Emile Ouosso said that five Ukrainians constituting the plane crew and one Congolese died in the cargo plane crash outside Brazzaville, the capital of the Congo.
