Kyiv and Washington have agreed to hold a founding meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. commission on strategic partnership late in October this year.

Ukraine’s Acting Foreign Minister Volodymyr
Khandohiy and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William
Burns reached agreement in New York, the Ukrayinska Pravda Web
publication reported, referring to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s
press service.

“Major attention during the talks was paid to
seeking the ways of the practical strengthening of relations, strategic
partnership with the United States on the basis of the charter on
strategic partnership, and to supporting a political dialogue at the
highest and high levels,” reads the statement.
