Ukraine and the United States will hold a meeting of their joint commission on strategic partnership by the end of this year, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oleh Shamshur has said.

“I’m sure that the inaugural meeting of the commission on strategic partnership will be held by the end of this year,” he said at a briefing at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

Shamshur said that the decision on the commission’s creation had been announced during U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Ukraine.

“We’re currently at the practical stage of our discussions on agreeing the date, and it is very likely that this meeting may be held by the end of October,” he said.
