Ukrainian Mobile Communications (UMC), Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine, Wimm Bill Dann Ukraine and Kyiv Investment Group (KIG) launched a joint project entitled 'Inter-Corporate University' in the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, National Technical University of Ukraine 'Kyiv Polytechnic Institute' and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (all situated in Kyiv) beginning from September 2009.
A corresponding memorandum between these companies and institutes of higher education was signed on July 17, 2009, Natalia Bereza, the personnel management director of the UMC Company, told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to her, the program is aimed at minimizing the cost of retraining graduates of the Ukrainian institutes of higher education after companies have hired them. In particular, students do not quite understand such notions as ‘team work’, ‘presentation’, ‘self-organization’ etc., she said.
The project foresees lectures by top managers of these companies concerning various corporate issues, as well as small master classes. The project is designed mostly for fourth-year students.
