Relations between Moscow and Kyiv should not be over-politicized, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“In general, we are interested in seeing the economy prevail in
Russian-Ukrainian relations, and the leaderships should seek to remove
political disagreements so that they should not obstruct our
cooperation,” Lavrov said at a meeting of the heads of Russian and
Ukrainian border regions on Wednesday.
Russian-Ukrainian relations could be less dependent on political
circumstances if the two countries choose the path of setting up joint
ventures, especially small and medium-sized businesses, he said.
Lavrov acknowledged that relations between Moscow and Kyiv are not
at their best in history. “We would like this time to pass as soon as
possible,” he said.
