The Union of Leftist Forces political party has decided to join the Bloc of Leftist Forces and support the nomination of Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko as the left's joint candidate for the post of Ukraine's president.

The decision was taken at the party’s extraordinary first congress
in Kyiv on Friday. The decision was unanimously backed by all 212 votes
from the congress delegates.

“The right decision was taken … as I see no other party, apart from
the communist party headed by [its leader] Petro Mykolayovych
[Symonenko], which would work for people,” party leader Vasyl Volha
said.

Symonenko said that an inter-party congress by the Bloc of Leftist
Forces, which will nominate a single presidential candidate, would be
held at Kyiv International Cultural Center (Zhovtnevy House of Culture)
on October 20.
