An animal tamer was taken to hospital on October 2 after having suffered an attack by a lion during a circus show in Lviv, reads a statement made by Lviv municipal council.
"A lion attacked the tamer in the circus during the show," the statement said.
The performance was stopped immediately, and the spectators evacuated.
The tamer was rushed to city hospital No.8, where he underwent an urgent surgical operation.
No victims among the spectators have been reported.
