BRUSSELS - The U.K. and France have agreed on the need to maintain the EU sanctions against Russia until the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine's east are fully implemented, head of the British Foreign Office Philip Hammond said.

”[We have] agreed at Amiens Franco-Britain Summit on the need to keep the EU sanctions against Russia until full Minsk agreement implementation,” Hammond wrote on his Twitter account.

The current EU economic sanctions against Russia will expire in July.

As reported, after the meeting in Amiens, French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister David Cameron urged Russia to use its influence on the militants in Ukraine’s east in order to stop the violence in the region.

Hollande and Cameron also called on Ukraine’s government to join efforts in the implementation of reforms in the country.
