Mayor of Uzhgorod Serhiy Ratushniak is alleged to have beaten a girl campaigning for presidential candidate Arseniy Yatseniuk's Front of Changes initiative, the press service of the organization reported on Thursday
According to the report, the incident took place
near the Faculty of Chemistry of Uzhgorod National University, where
two girls were distributing Front for Changes campaign leaflets.
According to the press service, Ratushniak, who happened to be nearby,
started to insult the girls, then grabbed one of them by the throat and
pushed her to the ground. After that, according to the report, the
mayor destroyed the campaign tent and drove away.
Passersby called the police and an ambulance. Medics treated the girl for several injuries and concussion.
The girl has made a statement to the police, the press service said.
Interfax-Ukraine has yet to obtain comments from the police on this incident.
