The Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU) will not decide on the support of any candidate running for presidency at the first stage of its congress, SPU leader Oleksandr Moroz told reporters on Saturday.
The first stage of the SPU’s performance assessment and election congress is being held in Kyiv on Saturday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
As Moroz said, the congress is held once per two years and the current congress was planned long before the current presidential campaign.
Yet, he said, on the agenda of the congress is the issue “what people are concerned about prior to the election campaign.” In general, the congress will consider the pre-election situation.
Moroz also said that the issue of the purchase and sale of land in Ukraine remains fundamental for the SPU.
He reminded that the Socialists are against the sale of land, and they are ready to consider the support of that candidate running for presidency who is ready to back up that idea promoted by the Socialists.
