PJSC MTS Ukraine intends to complete the modernization of its network by the end of the first quarter of 2014, marketing director Oleh Reshetin said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
According to him, the modernization is necessary because most equipment was installed in the 1990s.
“The most active phase of modernization will be carried out by the end of 2013, and we will complete the modernization in the first quarter of 2014,” the top manager said.
Reshetin said that modernization was being conducted to prepare the network for introducing the 3G/4G standards and increase the capacity of the existing 2G network by more than 30 percent.
According to him, the increase in the network capacity will also allow the speed of data transmission to subscribers to be increased.
