The Naftohaz Ukrainy national oil and gas company has said the RosUkrEnergo Company owes the company USD 40 million for services on transportation of natural gas. Ukrainian News learned this from the press service of Naftohaz Ukrainy. “The RosUkrEnergo Company owes the Naftohaz Ukrainy national oil and gas company nearly USD 40 million for transport services,” the statement reads. With this, the Naftohaz Ukrainy national company has said again it has paid in full to the RosUkrEnergo Company for gas supplies in 2008. Naftohaz Ukrainy demands that representatives of Russia’s Gazprom stop manipulations about the accounts of the Ukrainian national company for gas supplied in 2008. Ukraine in 2008 received 47.9641 billion cubic meters of imported natural gas. The national company transferred USD 8,609.556 million for the natural gas. “On December 30, a single transfer of USD 1,522.8 million to RosUkrEnergo financially covered in full the factual consumption of imported gas in November and December 2008,” the statement reads. The Naftohaz Ukrainy national oil and gas company notes that the question of receiving of funds by Gazprom from RosUkrEnergo solely concerns the relations between Gazprom and RosUkrEnergo and Naftohaz Ukrainy has nothing to do with the accounts between them. In its financial balance the Naftohaz Ukrainy national oil and gas company has no financial liabilities for 2008 before RosUkrEnergo or Gazprom. The Ukrainian national company has urged against its Russian partners to end their information insinuations and meet their commitments concerning the shift to the direct relations with Naftohaz Ukrainy and signing of long-term contracts on gas supplies and the transit of the Russian natural gas to Europe. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Russia’s Gazprom gas monopolist on January 2 said the debt of Naftohaz Ukrainy before RosUkrEnergo for gas supplies was USD 614 million. According to Sergei Kupriyanov, the official spokesman for Gazprom, the sum of the debt has emerged as a result of transfer of part of USD 1.523 billion paid by Naftohaz Ukrainy for coverage of penalty fees before RosUkrEnergo instead of entering the funds as payment for gas deliveries. Gazprom further said Gazprom will receive the tranche of USD 1.523 billion from Naftohaz Ukrainy to RosUkrEnergo for gas supplies only on January 11 because of the holidays. Naftohaz Ukrainy has said the question of penalty fees on delayed payments was the competence of the court. Meantime, the RosUkrEnergo Company said the contract envisages that penalty fees are imposed automatically. On January 1, 2009, Gazprom suspended gas supplies to Ukraine. |
