You're reading: New expert mission to gather evidence on MH17 disaster

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has announced the beginning of a two-week expert mission to gather evidence to support or disprove the causes of the MH17 disaster in eastern Ukraine.

Vasyl Vovk, the Head of the Main Investigation Department of the SBU announced the new mission, started on June 16, in eastern Ukraine as a part of the investigation into MH17 crash. According to the statement, the mission will be executed by experts of the Netherlands’ national police and the SBU with the cooperation of the OSCE, as tasked by the international joint investigative group.

“The investigation will last two weeks. Our goal is to gather evidence to support or disprove various versions of the plane crash,” – said Vovk.

The SBU has drew attention to the fact that there will be no additional statements on the course and results of the investigation.The search mission in eastern Ukraine had recently finished. The remains of the bodies, personal belongings and pieces of the plane were sent to the Netherlands for further investigation.
