The largest cocaine shipment in the history of Ukraine, 582.35 kilograms, was seized in the Odesa seaport. The drugs were hidden in scrap metal on a ship, which had arrived from Bolivia, the State Customs Service said.
The black market cost of the cocaine is over $60 million, the service said, adding that a criminal case had been opened.
The previous largest cocaine shipment, 152 kilograms, was found on a vessel that arrived from Chile in the Odesa seaport on July 1.
The drugs were found on the same vessel with identical shipping documents and delivery terms, the service said.
The liquidation of the international drug shipment route from Latin America resulted from a long operation of the Ukrainian Security Service, the Ukrainian State Customs Service and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
