First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and ex-Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko has said he hopes that a meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and Russia will take place during the CIS summit in Chisinau, Moldova.
“I think that the meeting of the presidents will be held in Chisinau
in several days. I think Moscow has reconsidered the unfriendly
statements it made in August. Recently [Russian President Dmitry]
Medvedev said he wants to develop normal relations with Ukraine. I
think this is a signal that Moscow understood its mistake and realized
that it had gone too far,” Ohryzko said in an interview with the
Ukraina Moloda newspaper.
Earlier, at a press conference on Wednesday, Yushchenko confirmed his
plans to participate in the CIS summit in Chisinau on October 9, as
well as to meet with Medvedev.
