Ukraine's gas transportation system is of great economic and strategic importance to Ukraine and any hopes to privatize it are in vain, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko has said.
“Ukraine’s gas transportation system is of extremely great economic and strategic importance for our state, thus, any hopes that it will be put in someone else’s hands are in vain. It is necessary to take this into account, rather than build castles in the air,” he said at a joint press conference with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski in Kyiv on Friday.
Ohryzko said that Ukraine is ready for an honest and transparent dialogue on the gas issue based on European principles.
