The financing of the judicial system envisaged in the draft budget for 2010 will rise by 10% year-on-year, the Ukrainian Justice Minister Mykola Onischuk has forecasted.

“The expenses on the maintenance of the judicial system will rise by 10%,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday when asked to comment on the expenses for the judicial system envisaged in the draft budget for next year.

The minister stressed that this increase would also take into account the level of inflation in the country.

As for the capital outlays, which include the expenses on repairs of courts’ facilities, this amount was also increased.

On the whole, the country’s court system is traditionally under-financed.
