About 2,000 private entrepreneurs are picketing the Ukrainian parliament building, protesting against the adoption of a new tax code.

The demonstrators are chanting, "Prime Minister Azarov Must Resign!" They are whistling and bashing metal buckets, and holding posters which condemn the government’s tax policy.

Ukrainian Internet media, meanwhile, reported from across Ukraine that police had prevented busloads of demonstrators from traveling to Kyiv to take part in the rally.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on Oct. 21 urged lawmakers to adopt the code when it comes up for a vote in parliament in early November. He added that there are no good reasons for demonstrators to protest against it.
