You're reading: OSCE/ODIHR deploys observation mission in Ukraine

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) has deployed a mission to Ukraine to monitor the early parliamentary elections in this country due on Oct. 26.

Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister and chief of staff Andriy Olefirov met with the head of the mission, Tana de Zulueta, on Thursday, Sep. 19, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said on its Web site.

“Ukraine seeks to ensure honest and transparent elections to Verkhovna Rada. We hope the objective and unbiased conclusions of the OSCE/ODIHR mission will help us in this,” Olefirov said.

Ukraine expressed its readiness to provide all kinds of assistance to the OSCE/ODIHR mission, the Foreign Ministry said.
