You're reading: Police confirm closure of Mezhyhiria treasures theft case

The police in Kyiv region have confirmed the closure of the criminal case about the disappearance of treasures from residence of former disgraced Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych - Mezhyhiria (Kyiv region) – opened under Part 5 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“The criminal case has been really closed,” the press service of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv region told Interfax-Ukraine on May 17.

The press service said that the case was closed that there is no an application declaring the crime from the victim party and the fact that the so-called “Golden Leaf” existed is doubtful.

Earlier on Monday secretary of the parliamentary committee for preventing and combating corruption Dmytro Dobrodomov wrote on the official website of People’s Control civil movement published the response of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Kyiv region to his lawmaker inquiry. According to the document, on December 4, 2015 an investigator of the investigation department of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv region decided to close this criminal case in pursuant of Paragraph 2 of Part 2 of Article 284 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
