A total of 40% of Ukrainians support a presidential-parliamentary form of government in Ukraine, according to a survey carried out by the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) on September 8-12, 2009.
NISS Director Yuriy Ruban presented the results of the survey at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
A total of 2010 people were polled in all regions of Ukraine, including Crimea and Kyiv. The poll’s margin of error was 2%.
According to Ruban, 40% of those polled supported a
presidential-parliamentary form of government (in which voters elect
the president and the government forms a parliamentary majority), 27.2%
of those polled supported a presidential form of government (when the
president is elected in a national poll) and only 9.8% of Ukrainians
supported a parliamentary form of government (when the government forms
a parliamentary majority, and the president is elected by the
parliament), while 23% found it difficult to answer.
