Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the holding of elections in the Donbas areas not controlled by the central government will undermine the Minsk negotiating process.

“We have discussed the extreme danger posed by the holding of fake elections on Oct. 18 and on Nov. 1 in violation of the Ukrainian law. And it poses a serious threat to the whole Minsk process,” he told a press conference after his talks in Berlin with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

President Poroshenko also said that his power-decentralization proposals to the draft Ukrainian Constitution are fully consistent with the Minsk agreements.
