President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko says that the anti-corruption prosecutor must start working on December 1, 2015.

“I insist on no delays being possible – on December 1, the absolutely independent anti-corruption prosecutor with the independent Anti-Corruption Agency, with detectives, will demonstrate that we mean not just changes in surnames, but institutional changes, which will ensure an efficient mechanism of combating corruption,” Poroshenko said at a meeting with newly-appointed mayors on Nov.11.

Poroshenko said that it was Ukraine that needed the reforms carried out by the government, not the European Union.

“As of today, the Anti-Corruption Bureau was set up, the council as well. As far as I was informed, testing of the candidates for the post of anti-corruption prosecutor has been finished,” the president said.

He stressed that it is of huge importance that the parliament backs laws on combating corruption, which are needed for liberalization of the visa regime with EU.
