Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that over 80 percent of Ukrainians are against the right to bear arms, and he, as protector of the Constitution, agrees with them.

“Only 11 percent of Ukrainians support [the idea of] owning a weapon, 82 percent are against it. Undoubtedly, my opinion is the same as the opinion of the Ukrainians,” the President said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels on Sept. 21.

He noted that the improvement of law enforcement agencies should increase the security for Ukrainians, making it unnecessary to buy and bear arms.
