Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko on July 14 evening signed the amendments to the law on the prosecutor's office, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 2, and which envisages reducing the number of prosecutors in the country to 10,000 by 2018, president's press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko has said.

“The president has just signed the amendments to the law on the prosecutor’s office – in the presence of [Prosecutor General] Viktor Shokin and [Deputy Prosecutor General] Davit Sakvarelidze. The law creates new opportunities for cleansing the prosecution agencies, and will make it possible to start a tender for the large-scale renewal of the staff soon,” Tseholko wrote on his Facebook page.
