You're reading: Prague Daily Monitor: Activists hand petitions concerning Ukraine to Zeman

Representatives of Czech civic groups Wednesday handed over two petitions to President Milos Zeman's office in which they ask him to immediately launch negotiations with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych about the protection of fundamental human rights in Ukraine.

The two petitions have been signed by almost 3000 people, Petr Marek,
one of their initiators from the Bez komunistu.cz (Without Communists)
group, told CTK.

Zeman will surely deal with the petitions that will be given to him later Wednesday, his spokesman Jiri Ovcacek told CTK.
