Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has accused Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko of hindering the issue of UAH 1.2 billion in refinancing funds to Kyiv-based Oschadbank to credit heat suppliers.

“Under an order of the head of state, UAH 1.2 billion in refinancing
funds are not being issued to Oschadbank,” she said at a telephone
conference on the preparations for the heating season in Kyiv on Monday.

Tymoshenko said that this was occurring even when the National Bank
of Ukraine (NBU) has allocated over UAH 20 billion for the refinancing
of commercial banks.

At the meeting, the premier asked the heads of regional state
administrations to raise the issue of the allocation of refinancing
funds to Oschadbank at a meeting with the president. The premier said
that the refinancing would allow heat supply companies to pay to
Naftogaz Ukrainy for gas supplied.

“The heat supply system, Oschadbank and the NBU are ready to carry out the relevant payments via Oschadbank,” she said.
