Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has accused the government of disrupting the financing of the Ukrainian Book state program.

The head of state made the comment at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council in Kyiv on Friday.

Yushchenko said that UAH 1.2 million had been spent this year to
finance the program, which is “20 times less than in previous years.”

“Is this a crisis? Yes, it’s a crisis, but not the financial one…
There’s a crisis in the heads, and there’s a crisis in an approach to
the Ukrainian issue,” he said.

Yuschenko said that any statements on the need to stop the financing
of similar spheres due to the global financial and economic crisis are
cynical.
