The price of Russian gas to be imported to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2010 will total around $300 per 1,000 cubic meters, according to Bohdan Sokolovsky, the Ukrainian president's commissioner for international energy security.

“I think the price will total around $300 per 1,000 cubic meters in the first quarter,” he told reporters on Monday.

According to experts from Ukraine’s state gas company Naftogaz, the
price of Russian gas will range between $250 and $296 per 1,000 cubic
meters in the first quarter next year, he said.

Sokolovsky also said that the outlook for the average annual price
of imported gas at $265 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is stipulated in
the state budget for 2010, is too optimistic.

Sokolovsky said earlier that the price of gas to be imported by
Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2009 would not drastically differ from
the one seen in the third quarter.

According to Naftogaz’s preliminary calculations, the gas price for
the fourth quarter will range between $190 and $208 per 1,000 cubic
meters.
