The investigation department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's office in Dnipropetrovsk region has opened a criminal case under clause 5, part 2, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (deliberate killing) over a gas explosion at Kharkivska Street in Dnipropetrovsk, according to a statement released by the press service of Dnipropetrovsk prosecutor's office on Tuesday.

The document says that a gas pipeline exploded in downtown Dnipropetrovsk on October 13.

A preliminary examination showed that the blast had been caused by an explosive device that resulted in the death of a man.

The regional prosecutor’s office is overseeing the case.

As reported, one person died and ten others were evacuated after a
gas blast rocked a five-storey apartment block at 4 Kharkivska Street
in Dnipropetrovsk on Tuesday, October 13.

According to preliminary data, the victim of the blast is Viacheslav
Brahinsky, the director of the Ukraine-Canada International
Construction Company Ltd, who is reported to have been not far from the
site at the time of the explosion.

According to an earlier report, the explosion at the residential
block could have been caused by a truck hitting a low-pressure gas
pipeline running along the side of the building, according to a press
release of the gas supply and connection company OJSC Dniprogaz.
