You're reading: Prosecutors open criminal case on food poisoning of children in Dzhankoi kindergartens

SIMFEROPOL – The Dzhankoi inter-district prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case on an outbreak of food poisoning of children in kindergartens in Dzhankoi, Crimea.

The case was opened under part 1, Article 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (the violation of rules for fighting epidemiological and other infectious diseases), the press service of the Crimean prosecutor’s office reported on Friday.

An investigative group has currently been formed to establish the causes of a crime, and the prime suspected cause is food poisoning, the press service said.

According to the latest reports, a total of 93 children were hospitalized with food poisoning.

The first child was taken to hospital at 0800 on September 3. The children, aged between 2 and 7, attend four different kindergartens. They have been preliminarily diagnosed with gastroenterocolitis, an inflammatory disease affecting the stomach and intestines.
