Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulated Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on Ukraine's Independence Day on Monday, Putin's press office sad.

“I hope that the joint work of our governments will help the
solution of practical tasks in the bilateral cooperation and create a
favorable atmosphere for comprehensive development of Russia-Ukraine
relations,” the message reads.

It was announced last week that Putin and Tymoshenko would meet in
Poland on September 1 during the events marking the 70th anniversary of
the beginning of the WW2.
