You're reading: Putin sees no point in tying relief of EU’s anti-Russian sanctions to implementation of Minsk agreements

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called "pointless" the attempts to tie revocation of the European Union's sanctions against Russia with full implementation of the Minsk agreements by the parties to the Ukrainian conflict.

“Today there is in point in tying revocation of the EU sanctions to final resolution, the bringing of the Minsk process to its logical conclusion because – I repeat – the ball is not in Russia’s court,” Putin said after talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Feb. 17.

“We are not bothered by this process [the sanctions relief], we are certain that this – normalization of the relations between Russia and the EU – will happen sooner or later,” Putin said.
