KYIV/ODESA - Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada parliamentarian Andriy Illyenko, who was elected as an independent representative of the Svoboda (Freedom) party, claims that unidentified people attempted to throw an explosive device to his parliamentary office in Odesa.

“Unidentified lawbreakers tried to throw an explosive device into a
window of my parliamentary office and Svoboda office in Odesa. The
explosion took place right under the office,” Illyenko said on his
Facebook account on May 15.

Police neither confirmed nor denied this information in an interview
with Interfax. The Interior Ministry department for the Odesa region
said an investigative team had rushed to the scene of the incident in
the Prymorsky district of Odesa to conduct an inquiry.

At the same time, a police source said on condition of anonymity that the matter concerned the explosion of a firecracker.
